On Sunday night, 23XI Racing team owner Michael Jordan expressed his concerns for driver Bubba Wallace ahead of the pivotal NASCAR Cup Series race in Darlington. Wallace, who was fighting to secure a spot in the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, needed either a victory or to finish significantly ahead of competitor Chris Buescher to make the cut.
Before the race, Jordan had a simple yet powerful six-word message for Wallace:
“He’s got to do his job.”
The basketball legend turned NASCAR owner had high hopes for his driver, but unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. Wallace finished in 16th place, missing out on a spot in the playoffs. His night took a turn for the worse after a major crash late in the race, adding to the challenges he faced throughout the 2024 season.

Fans Rally Behind Wallace
Despite the disappointment, NASCAR fans showed their support for Wallace, recognizing the tough breaks he encountered over the past few months. Many took to social media to express their sympathy and encouragement for the driver.
“Bubba Wallace can’t catch a break, man. It’s never his doing either. Hope he doesn’t be too hard on himself. He drove his (butt) off and came across horrible luck at a couple of these races the past two months that caused him valuable points,” one fan wrote.
Another fan added, “Unfortunately, Bubba Wallace will not make the 2024 playoffs. Many notable drivers didn’t make it either, but the season isn’t over. Bubba is tied with career top 10s and 5s. Keep your heads held high, Bubba fans.”
Looking Ahead to 2025
While the 2024 season may not have ended the way Wallace had hoped, there’s still optimism for the future. With several strong performances under his belt and the continued backing of his team and fans, Wallace will be looking to come back stronger in 2025. Best of luck to him as he moves forward.
